information on kilts- technically what we know as kilts today were not set as fashion and worn by all, until 16th century.

however variations of it were worn. a man working in a field wearing his tunic could just easily strip of the top and tuck it or wrap his cloak round to be out of his way.

In the middle ages
Men wore a simple tunic which came down to the knee or lower and could be tied with a belt around the waist.

The general rule was that the poorer someone was, the simpler their clothes were.
